The Facts About Heart Disease for Women
Imagine one of every three women in your
family, at your job, at your church, or your friends. Now think about these
women no longer being around because they've had a cardiovascular event and the
ER was unable to revive them. Now consider this fact: Only one-third of all US

combined. Sadly, the fact is that only thirteen percent of women are even aware
that heart disease is number one killer of U.S. women. Almost 500, 000
different women lose their lives to heart disease annually: women who are moms,
grandmothers, aunts, sisters, and daughters.

Fact: One-quarter of adult Americans
have high blood pressure and than one-third of them have no idea they have this
potentially life-threatening condition. It's not uncommon to think that men are
more at risk for cardiovascular diseases than women, however, the fact is that
women have out numbered men in deaths due to heart disease and stroke every
year since 1984. Having high blood pressure is a significant risk factor for
the development of heart attack, stroke, and other cardiovascular diseases New

New research announced in the latest issue of the Journal of the American
Medical Association or JAMA reports a seven percent drop in the number of new
cases of breast cancer. The significant drop in the number of new breast cancer
cases in 2003 came just one year after the Women's Health Initiative was
stopped early due to an increased risk of heart disease in women taking
estrogen.
